MEDAR Grants for students from Arabic countries

The MEDAR Consortium, involved in MEDAR and NEMLAR Projects on “Mediterranean Arabic Language and Speech Technology”, (completed with the support by the European Commission), is perpetuating a tradition established in 2012, in awarding grants for students to attend  the International conference on Language Resources and Evaluation (LREC'2014, the 9th edition) taking place in Reykjavik, Iceland, on May 26-31, 2014.

Each grant will cover the registration fees and support part of the travel and accommodation expenses.

At the time of the application, applicants must be enrolled as Master’s or Ph.D students at a University in an Arabic country.

To apply for a grant, send a message to [javascript protected email address] with:

  • a 1 or 2-page document describing your current activities (Ph.D/Master’s thesis focus, status) and how they relate to NLP domain;
  • a cover letter justifying your application to attend LREC, and references;
  • a copy of your current student id and/or letter from your supervisor.

 

The applications will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis and notifications will be sent accordingly.

Important Dates

  • 24 October 2013: Abstract, Workshop, Tutorial and Panel submission
  • 27 November 2013: Notification of acceptance for Workshops & Tutorials
  • 31 January 2014: Notification of accepted papers
  • 22 March 2014: Final Submission of accepted papers
  • 6 April 2014: Submission of workshop proceedings
  • 28 - 29 - 30 May 2014: Main Conference
  • 26 and 27 May 2014: Pre-conference workshops and tutorials
  • 31 May 2014: Post-conference workshops and tutorials
