Participate in the LREC 15th Anniversary Grand Quiz!

All LREC 2014 participants are kindly invited to participate in this Quiz related to the analysis of the LREC conference series starting from the first LREC 1998 (Granada, Spain) to LREC 2012 (Istanbul, Turkey). The results of this analysis based on the LREC Anthology are depicted in a paper(1) that will be presented on the occasion of the “LREC 15th Anniversary” during the Closing Session that will take place on Friday May 30 in the Eldborg Auditorium.

This paper aims at analyzing the content of the conferences contained in the LREC Anthology over the past 15 years. It follows a similar exercise that has been conducted within the Computational Linguistics community over 50 years of existence at the ACL conference in 2012, and a survey conducted on the ISCA conferences series, presented at Interspeech 2013, on the occasion of ISCA/ESCA 25th anniversary.

It contains first an analysis of the evolution of the number of papers and authors over time, including their gender and nationality, and of the collaboration network among authors over 15 years (1998-2013). It then studies the references to the funding agencies cited in the papers and finally conducts an analysis of the evolution of the research topics over the same period.

The Quiz will be accessible on the LREC 2014 conference Web site at the opening of the conference. It contains 20 questions, including 18 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and 2 tiebreaker open questions. It should not take more than 5 minutes of your time to answer the Quiz. The Quiz will close on Thursday May 29, at 20h00.

The right answer will be considered as the one which is the closest to the information that is contained in the paper. Given that the analysis is based on the use of automatic natural language processing tools, it may thus contain some uncertainties. The paper will stay encrypted until the Special session, where the password allowing to have access to its content will be provided. It will also be fully accessible in the LREC Anthology after the conference.

The Grand Prize consists of a set of Blue Lagoon spa products.

The results and the name of the grand winner will be announced during the Closing Session, on Friday May 30.

Have fun!

Participate in the LREC Open Challenge on Shared Language Resources

http://lrec2014.lrec-conf.org/en/shared-lrs/current-list-shared-lrs/

ELRA encourages all LREC authors to share the described LRs (data, tools, services, etc.), to enable their reuse, replicability of experiments, including but not limited to evaluation ones.

In addition to describing your LRs in the LRE Map – now a normal step in the submission procedure of many conferences – LREC 2014 recognises that the time is ripe to launch another important initiative, the LREC Repository of shared LRs!

When submitting a paper, you will be offered the possibility to share your LRs (data, tools, web-services, etc.), uploading them in a special LREC META-SHARE repository set up by ELRA.
Your LRs will be made available to all LREC participants before the conference, to be re-used, compared, analysed, etc.

This effort of sharing LRs, linked to the LRE Map for their description, may become a new "regular" feature for conferences in our field, thus contributing to creating a common repository where everyone can deposit and share data.
